With the rise of eco-friendly and sustainable construction practices, the application of concrete admixtures in the building industry has become increasingly widespread. Instant-dissolving HPMC is a non-ionic cellulose ether produced through a series of chemical processing steps, utilizing natural polymeric cellulose as its raw material. Its inclusion enhances product storage stability, ensures uniform color development, optimizes rheological properties, and facilitates mechanical application; furthermore, it contributes to improved paint flexibility and gloss. According to a relevant expert from the former Soviet Union, waterproof coatings formulated with uniformly dispersed HPMC are capable of rapidly forming a film on any type of surface, exhibiting excellent overall performance characterized by superior elasticity, airtightness, and water resistance.

In mortar applications, a higher addition rate of cellulose ether correlates with superior water retention capabilities and increased viscosity; consequently, the water retention performance is further enhanced. Fineness is another critical performance parameter for HPMC. The fineness of HPMC exerts a distinct influence on its water retention properties; generally speaking, when comparing HPMC variants of identical viscosity but differing fineness, the finer the powder—given the same addition rate—the more effective the resulting water retention.

In the realm of concrete admixtures, although the addition rate of HPMC cellulose etheris relatively low, it significantly improves the workability of the admixture system, establishing itself as a primary additive influencing the construction performance of mortar.
