Causes and Prevention Measures for Poor Mortar Adhesion - Thickening HPMC - Used in Plaster Putty Mortar

HPMC industrial-grade chemical powder is one of our best-selling products, offering low price and high quality. It can be used as a thickener and water-retaining agent in building mortar. Shijiazhuang Cellulose Co., Ltd., a cellulose manufacturer from China, can provide you with ample supply.

01 Improving the workability of mortar is key to ensuring the fullness of mortar joints and enhancing bond strength. The selection of mortar raw materials is crucial. Sand and cement must be within their shelf life, and thickeners such as cellulose ethers andredispersible latex powders that improve mortar adhesion should be selected from reputable companies.

02 Improve masonry methods. The mortar-spreading method or brick-laying method should not be used. The "three-in-one bricklaying method" should be promoted, which is to use a large shovel to lay one brick, one shovel of mortar, and one squeeze and knead.

03 When using the mortar-spreading method for masonry, the length of the mortar spread must be controlled. Under normal temperature conditions, it should not exceed 750mm, and when the temperature exceeds 30℃ during construction, it should not exceed 500mm.

04 Strictly prohibited for use in brick masonry. The bricks should be moistened 1-2 days before construction, ensuring that the moisture content of sintered common bricks and porous bricks reaches 10%-15%; and the moisture content of lime-sand bricks and fly ash bricks reaches 8%-12%.

05 During winter construction, even under positive temperature conditions, the brick surface should be appropriately moistened before laying. When construction is carried out at sub-zero temperatures and bricks cannot be poured, the consistency of the mortar should be appropriately increased. For areas with seismic fortification intensity of 9 degrees, bricklaying cannot be carried out if bricks cannot be fired in severe winter.
