Analysis and prevention of cracking of gypsum putty film

Phenomenon：① The putty cracks over a large area after being scraped and dried;

                             ② The putty film cracks if the paint is not applied in time after the putty is scraped;

                             ③ When scraping the same wall, some areas may crack while others may not. The reasons for these cracks are different and should be treated separately.

Cause Analysis：① The putty cracks immediately after drying because the quality of the putty itself is poor and its initial drying crack resistance may not meet the standards;

                              ② When scraping the same wall, some places crack while others do not. The reason is that the putty is applied too thickly or unevenly.

                              ③ Severe depressions are not filled and leveled in advance or the depressions are not cleaned up;

Prevention and control measures：① Improve the quality of the putty, that is, increase the amount of organic binder in the formula. The amount of polyvinyl alcohol micropowder in the putty should not be too low. The initial drying crack resistance of the putty film is mainly provided by the organic binder.

        ② The fineness of the filler cannot be too high. Fillers with high fineness require more binder to bond, which are adverse factors that cause the putty film to crack.

         ③ The dust in the depression should be cleaned up. If the pit is large, it should be filled in layers with thick gypsum putty.
