Solution to poor construction performance of gypsum putty

Phenomenon：Good putty should have good scraping properties, be easy to apply, and have no sticky feeling. Poor workability can be caused by two factors: one is that the putty dries quickly; the other is that the putty feels too heavy and sticky when applied.

Cause Analysis：① Due to the low dosage of water retaining agent;

                                   ② The amount of polyvinyl alcohol powder in the putty is too high. When the formula does not use appropriate thixotropic thickening materials, the situation will become more serious.

Prevention or solution measures：① When putty dries too quickly, the amount of cellulose methyl ether water retaining agent should be increased.

                                                                        ② If the putty is too sticky, reduce the amount of polyvinyl alcohol powder. At the same time, the use of thickeners should not be neglected. For example, the appropriate use of starch ether or bentonite in the same formula can improve the workability of a putty that is already sticky. However, thickeners lack water retention and cannot solve the problem of rapid drying caused by low water retention agent dosage.
